Tight and Loose Tables in Holdem Poker

Powerful Hands like AA, KK, QQ, and AK played from early position should be played in Holdem poker with serious consideration of how tight or loose the play at the table is.

When the Holdem poker table is a loose one and pre-flop raises are made left and right one possible strategy is to limp to the pot with calls using our powerful hands above. Tight tables, on the other hand, where pre-flop raises are seldom done, should be played with as more raises to the pot as possible pre-flop in Holdem poker.

If we choose to limp pre-flop at a loose table the pot would probably be raised and the exciting Holdem poker developments would continue when our turn comes again. This is good development---just imagine the hefty pot we would be collecting with our strong hand. However, if we opt to wager a big one, no one might dare raise us. Playing from an early position in Holdem poker with such bet may alert players of our good hand. So we should rather limp with our play in early position.

Now, while limping and there's a raise to the pot, we should re-raise to put as much in the pot as possible. This is the way to exploit our good hand in Holdem poker from early position. But make sure we got only 1 to 2 callers because more callers would result to more odds of a bad beat in Holdem poker. If we have a tight table it would make sense to raise pre-flop so that less players would be encouraged to limp play to browse a cheap card on the flop.

Hence, we want to limit the play to 1 or 2 poker players and try to make a few wins at mid-play pre-flop. More than this is pure fantasy. Remember that Holdem poker under the gun is very risky and we're susceptible to slow plays that tend to weaken our Holdem poker play. We summarize our play in three principles: make sure to play only the best hands; with strong hands like AA, KK, QQ, and AK, we always raise when the table is tight and limp play when the table is loose in Holdem poker. With lesser hands, we either limp play or fold outright, especially when the hand is too weak under the gun.

When we use the above principles we may stand a good chance even when positioned early in Holdem poker and save lots of money.
