Even if you are just a new Poker player, you will no doubt have seen on television the No Limit Holdem tournaments. With the wads of cash, the glitz and glamour associated with the event, it is only natural that you will want to join in. However, for a beginner, you have to consider some things first.

The first is that playing in a No Limit tournament will require a lot of strategic planning, and second, no matter what you may have been told, or read, there is no such thing as a perfect strategy to win in a No Limit tourney. There are simply too many variables involved, and a perfect strategy does not exist.

But that does not mean you cannot win of course. The odds are huge, yes, but by conducting research on No Limit tournaments and how it is played, you will increase your chances. Now the first thing that you will likely come across is that the number rule is that of surviving the early tables.

That is very true. With so many players, your No Limit tournament strategy should be to avoid getting caught in any of it. Just remember that you will only play with the best card combinations. Anything less than that and you fold. However, even with the big hands, you should also consider the stacks on the table.

Even with a strong hand, think carefully if the other players have a large stack. If they do, they will call your raise. Remember, the more players that call your raise, the bigger the chance that they are holding a big hand. So you fold. At the early stage of a No Limit tourney, taking risks should be avoided.

Playing in a No Limit tournament will present you with a lot of challenges, so doing your homework prior to playing will be a big help. Too many players are enamored with the thought of winning millions that they buy in and go for broke. Needless to say, this type of approach will get them nowhere.

That is not going to help you win. You start by studying the basic strategies, playing it tight and then learning to watch the other players and how they play. Doing so will help you gain confidence as the No Limit tournament progresses.

Armed with the proper strategies and preparation, your chances of winning it all will increase.
